During the covid-19 shutdown, the students and I stayed in touch via postal mail. I sent the children letters and art-themed prompts and they returned images of their work to me if they wished to do so.
As Easter was approaching, I suggested that they take a look at Faberge Eggs for some design inspiration.... Then we looked at portraits in art history, and progressed to the children creating their own self-portraits.... I asked them to seriously consider what is absolutely most important to them, and then create some original art on that topic... I also wrote to them about May Day baskets and sent them a template to create a simple basket, and included some other ideas for May Day and the sharing of flowers.... I have also enjoyed collecting images they shared of any other aspects of their springtime lives in Omaha during a pandemic shutdown, and am including many of those pictures here as well.
