The 2020-2021 school year has been our 14th year of early childhood education! And, at the close of summer classes this June, A is for Art Preschool will be closing. This is a bittersweet announcement, as our little school has persevered through the Covid-19 pandemic, and I have been sad to turn away those families wishing to enroll for 2021-22. I so appreciate all the years with my wonderful families! I am moving on for personal and joyful reasons, but I can honestly say that closing A is for Art is pulling at my heartstrings.
What started as a fun and gentle suggestion from a friend has now grown into an 14-year-old program which I and my students and families have enjoyed. I have been so blessed to experience this community of families and learners.
A is for Art Preschool is a State-of-Nebraska Licensed Preschool program for ages 3 to 5 in the Omaha, Nebraska metro area. We are conveniently located within the Benson Community Center at the intersection of North 60th and Maple Streets.
My name is Jennifer Borelli and I am the Owner, Director and Teacher. I have brought my art background from the University of Georgia at Athens, GA and Cortona, Italy to my original art-based early childhood program here in Nebraska. Through 23 years in Nebraska, I have spent more than fourteen years expanding my art background to include teacher training and experience for the establishment and development of our quality preschool program.
In other realms of working with children in an educational capacity, I was a part of Cub Scouts den leadership for a total of ten years, and had the honor of being recognized as Den Leader of the Year in April 2013 by the Lewis and Clark District of the Boy Scouts of America. Additionally, I had a total of four years of Girl Scouts leadership experience, as well as teaching experience in pre-Ballet/Creative Movement for early childhood with Adair Dance Academy. I attended the College of Education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha from 2015 to 2018, and in December of 2016 had the honor of receiving a Humanities Innovator Award. I completed my Nebraska Teaching Certification in December 2017, and graduated with a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in the summer of 2018.
I thoroughly enjoy working with children, and can honestly and openly say that my years of teaching at A is for Art have been the happiest and most satisfying years of my professional life.
Personally, I am the proud mother of five children who range in age from twenty-two to twelve, so I also strongly relate to the needs and wants of parents, siblings and families as a whole.
