9:20-10:00 AM/1:00-1:40 PM Arrival and Self-Directed Play Time
Fine-motor skills, social and communication skills, using journals, story-telling and imaginative games, puzzles, building blocks and materials, group play, books and reading, etc
10:00-10:15 AM/1:40-1:55 PM Clean-Up Time, Restroom Break, Transition to Snack
Children clean up toys and activities from play time, are dismissed to the restrooms for toileting and hand-washing, gather for snack
10:15-10:30 AM/1:55-2:10 PM Snack Time
Snack helpers do their jobs: place cups and napkins at each seat at the table, emphasis on good manners, appropriate table conversation and communication about healthy foods and nutrition
10:30-10:40 AM/2:10-2:20 PM Transition to Read-Aloud Story time & Job assignments
Children clean up their place at the the table, gather together with the teacher at the board in the front of the room for whole-group story time and the assignment of jobs
10:40-10:55 AM/2:20-2:35 PM Go to Gym/Gross-Motor Movement Time
Exercise, stretching, group games, locomotor and gross-motor activity
10:55-11:00 AM/2:35-2:40 PM Transition Back to Classroom & Art-Making Time
Children get on paint smocks to protect their clothing
11:00-11:30 AM/2:40-3:10 PM Art Time
Teacher-directed lesson/instructions on a medium, theme or topic, followed by students' exploration and expression, any necessary clean-up
11:30-11:45 AM/3:10-3:25 PM Whole-Group Time
Students do daily jobs: attendance, calendar, weather, alphabet
Discussion and sharing, reflection on the topic and day, music, singing, and/or creative movement/dance
11:45-11:50 AM/3:25-3:30 PM Closing Time and Dismissal
Cool down, receive hand stamps, any important review/discussion
